Mertens and Sabalenka reach first Grand Slam doubles semifinal at Roland Garros

Elise Mertens (WTA D-6) reached her first Grand Slam doubles semifinal together with doubles partner Aryna Sabalenka (WTA D-23) at Roland Garros. The Belgian-Belarusian duo won the quarterfinal in two sets from Ukrainian Lyudmyla Kichenok (WTA D-54) and Lithuanian Jelena Ostapenko (WTA D-52). Second seeded Timea Babos (WTA D-5) and Kristina Mladenovic (WTA D-4) proved too strong opponents, making the semifinal the final stop for Elise and Aryna.
